Desktop applications interact directly with the operating system of the computer rather than using the web to achieve its functionality. Desktop apps are generally resource heavy applications and hence they generally have a lot of features built in them which are generally absent in their web based solution counterparts. They take longer to develop however are generally more stable than the web based solutions and hence don’t require frequent updates like the web based ones. These are classified into Customized Intranet Applications, ERP Management Software, Industrial Automation and Utility Application.
