A splash page is a page that appears before any other page on your website. Depending upon the industry or market your company serves, a splash page may be used to advertise a new deal, display a disclaimer, or provide a warning.

Instead of being a standalone page, a splash page is more of a big window that is housed on the homepage of the website. The splash page's objective is to give the visitor useful information.

A standard splash page has a background picture, not much text, and most importantly a link that directs the user to the main page of the website.
